Treating the Whole You: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Thymic Tumors from surgery to quality of life

5th WEBINAR FOR PATIENTS WITH EURACAN AND ITMIG DOCTORS EXPERTS ON THYMOMA AND THYMIC CARCINOMA
May 20th 2026: 5-8 pm CET / 11am EDT
Thymoma and thymic carcinoma are rare tumors that can leave patients and their families facing a difficult and often unfamiliar situation. Because these diseases are so uncommon, many healthcare professionals may have no or limited direct experience with them, and patients can feel isolated while trying to navigate complex decisions and an uncertain future.
This webinar is developed to address these needs through a joint effort by TUTOR (the Italian thymic cancer patient association and E-PAG, representing the voice of European patients in the network for rare solid adult tumor, with EURACAN (the European Reference Network for rare adult solid cancers), and ITMIG (the International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group). Its aim is to bring together clinical expertise and patient experience in a way that is clear, practical, and meaningful for everyday life.
Thymic malignancies can follow very different paths from one person to another. For this reason, it is important to look beyond the disease itself and focus on the whole person: quality of life, daily functioning, and emotional well-being at every stage. From surgical decision-making to ongoing care and quality of life, this webinar follows the full patient journey.
This webinar offers a multidisciplinary perspective, with contributions from specialists in medical oncology, thoracic surgery, neurology, physiotherapy, nutrition, and psycho-oncology, all experts on thymic tumors. It will also highlight the role of surgery as a key component in the management of thymic tumors, and discuss how treatment choices, including when surgery is not an option, can impact patient outcomes and quality of life. Doctors and patients will share practical guidance on managing the diseases, including options for patients who are not candidates for surgery, and approaches that can help maintain stability and well-being over time
The webinar will also address the wider impact of these conditions, including associated disorders such as myasthenia gravis and Good’s syndrome, as well as the importance of preserving strength and independence in daily life.
More than an educational event, this webinar is meant to create connection between patients, caregivers, and experts. The aim is to support informed choices, build confidence, and remind everyone involved that they are not facing this path alone.
